A 33-year-old man will appear in court next week charged with planning to attack princesses Amalia and Alexia in February, RTL reported on Friday.
The man had two axes carved with the words Alexia, Mossad and Sieg Heil, and was carrying a handwritten note stating Amalia, Alexia and Bloedbad (bloodbath), the public prosecution department is quoted as saying.
As yet it is unclear how concrete the plans were and what his motive is, but that will become public on Monday during the preparatory hearing in The Hague, RTL said.
In 2022 Amalia, who is first in line to the throne, was forced to give up plans to live with fellow students while studying in Amsterdam because of threats made against her.
She later moved to Madrid for six months where she could lead a more normal life before returning to Amsterdam and completing her studies.
The public prosecution department has not yet commented publicly on the case.
